Kyung Eun "Kay" Heo, from South Korea, is a writer with ten years of experience. Her work primarily explores themes such as ethnic diasporas and reunification, conflict and resolution, and the coexistence of differences. She is particularly intrigued by unfamiliar worlds, and this curiosity is reflected in her works, including her travel essay "We Need to Be Placed in Unfamiliar Places" (2014) and her collection of testimonies on North Korean human rights, "The Faceless Ones" (2015). Since 2015, she has written over 300 articles and columns and has interviewed more than 200 people, including politicians, entertainers, entrepreneurs, human rights activists, and North Korean defectors.
In 2021, she moved to Canada to gain broader and more diverse perspectives. She is currently involved with several Calgary-based art organizations as a writer, Korean language instructor, and visual artist, and is writing essays about her artistic journey.
